Peace of Mind for New Immigrants

Many of the people who are registered with Family Services are new arrivals to Canada. They've come in search of opportunity and a better future for their children. Welcome Hall Mission is there to offer help in times of need.
Nadia has two children, aged 10 and 12. She says as a new immigrant, there is so much to think about. Getting help with food and particularly school supplies gives her peace of mind knowing her children are properly equipped just like their peers. "It's a great way of helping, especially for the integration of immigrants."
Deepa and her husband moved their young family to Montreal from the Island of Mauritius and have been coming to Welcome Hall Mission over the last five months. "... we have received a lot of help: some practical advice about how to integrate into Quebec society, help with food and so many other things. I am happy to be able to benefit from Back-to-School with Heads Held High. My husband and I are not familiar with half of the items on their school lists. Thankfully, the Mission gives us the bags filled with school supplies which allow our children to have everything they need to go to school with dignity."
Nicole, who has eight children, says her husband has been unable to find work. With six school-aged children, "It's a lot of money, so this is really helping us!"
Ammar and his wife are studying in the medical field and living on student loans. He says he can't even afford the bus ticket to bring his son with him. "We are so grateful to the people here at Welcome Hall Mission and all of the donors!"
